The Story of Green Enterprises

In the 1970’s, after an honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps, Toppy Green went to work for Maderite Sandwich Company as a route man. In 1981, he was able to buy his truck and his territory from the company. At the time, he was in competition with older, more established sandwich companies. Toppy had one truck, and no money behind him, but he had a knack for knowing what his customers needed, and offered great customer service.

Toppy decided to diversify his offerings and expanded from sandwiches into other products such as bakery, meats, cheeses and grill and restaurant products. He traveled around the country choosing the best, highest quality products he could find.

In the 1990s, the company added more trucks to keep up with customer demand. Green Enterprises now has 30 trucks working in four states and the District of Columbia. Our customers include large convenience store chains, many family owned grills and restaurants, and we proudly service USMC, Navy, Army and Air Force bases on the East Coast. And many of Toppy’s original customers are still with the company today!

Green Enterprises has always been family owned and operated, and Toppy’s son Tyler is continuing that tradition. He joined the company in 2016 as its Director of Operations. He shares Toppy’s commitment to doing things the right way - the old-fashioned way. Toppy and Tyler believe in offering a good product at a fair price – always with great service.
